There are three main differences between using the EasyLife GCU Plus Kit and getting a lab test.

First, using the kit is more economical than spending money on a lab test.

Second, the EasyLife GCU Plus Kit is compact and portable. You can use it at home or bring it along when you travel. Since the kit is made for self-monitoring, you can check your blood tests on your own. You don’t have to go to the hospital to get yourself checked and wait for 24 hours to get the results.

Third, the kit requires a smaller blood sample — just a prick on your finger. A laboratory test, in contrast, requires a medical technician to extract a vial’s worth of venous blood, typically causing more pain and discomfort.

That said, your doctor may advise you to check your blood glucose before and after meals, and even before bedtime.

Low levels could be a sign of hypoglycemia. If your results yield 70 mg/dL or lower and you experience dizziness and nausea, take something sweet to immediately stabilize your blood sugar levels. Then, check your blood sugar levels to see if it has reached the normal level. Seek the counsel of your healthcare practitioner shortly thereafter.
